Barre

This class is taught by:

Darby Brender

“Everyone deserves to look and feel their best - we’ve only got one body and it’s so important to treat it with respect and kindness.”

The creator and owner of our amazing Fusion community, Darby still loves teaching and taking classes every day. Building her own mix of cardio and unique toning moves to get the job done in just one hour, Darby still loves to pull out ‘old school Fusion’ in some of her classes to seriously focus on the core and creating long, lean muscle tone. Known for her loud, wild music and cool moves in the studio, Darby inspires clients to be healthier and better versions of themselves, focusing on how good it feels to move our bodies and get stronger with each class. “If we don’t challenge ourselves, we don’t change - Fusion is all about pushing past our comfort zones to see what lies beyond the walls we’ve built and are scared to climb over. That’s where our full potential gets sparked!”

Anne Lock

“There is an energy at Fusion that is unique to anywhere else I’ve been - people here want to succeed, and they want everyone else around them to succeed as well.”

Anne’s mellow presence quickly turns to work mode when the studio doors shut and the music blares. Her creative movements flow from one body part to the next, burning out muscle groups and spiking the heart rate quickly. “I love the clients here because a)they work harder than anywhere I’ve ever seen, and b)they come game for anything.” As a client she made sure to mix her classes and “never to get in a routine of just taking one style of class,” so as an instructor she knows the importance of changing it up from one hour to the next. “The culture here is unmatched - with all of us from the instructors to the clients being genuinely excited to be here - we get the job done each time.”

Brooke Degnan

“Fusion was the most challenging class I had ever taken - I truly believe this concept is the ultimate recipe for fitness success.”

Equipped with a deep understanding of the body from her years as a ballet dancer and fitness trainer, Brooke knows what it takes to make the transformations her clients desire. Whether it’s building cardio endurance or focusing on building stronger muscles, clients love her attention to form and pushing them to their max. “Fusion’s method is the answer for all of us - providing a solid emphasis on forming lean muscle, pure devotion to creating a strong core, and an upbeat, fast-paced class to maintain an elevated heart rate - you can’t go wrong.” Imitating her amazing form provides constant motivation to keep moving during class, and Brooke’s sense of humor makes the time move quickly throughout her hour-long, full body workouts.

Alex Muesenfechter

“We live in a world that breeds such hostile competition among women - at Fusion, you find all of these amazing women that consistently build you up.”

Our own Ironman competitor, Alex has trained extensively in nutrition and endurance training and brings her love of challenging her own limits to clients at Fusion. Teaching regular classes as well as being involved in our Fusion Run program catering to long distance runners, Alex has the knowledge our clients need. She’s also passionate about educating the next generation, especially in city schools, about the importance of a healthy diet: “it benefits the entire community to ensure kids are offered their basic educational and nutritional needs.” As for her impressive Ironman experience - she plans to do another, craving more of the “self-discovery in realizing that I can push through my mental and physical challenges.”

Stephanie Eppler

“I love to watch a client that has walked into class looking tired, stressed and overwhelmed - leave with a new sense of self, positive attitude and feeling of accomplishment.”

Stephanie began dancing as a young girl - studying in a unique opportunity at age 16 began her professional career and lifelong love of ballet and fitness. Thriving on the structure, challenge and focus of being at the barre, Stephanie brings her engrained discipline to each class she teaches. “Fusion has been my happy place since the day I started after the birth of my second daughter - where I could come for an hour to challenge myself, accomplish a goal, and get away from outside pressures,” she says. Loving our intense, high energy style at Fusion as a client for years, she began as an instructor knowing each class is “so challenging you must be able to smile and laugh a bit while you’re doing it - very similar to my outlook on life.”

Shauna Pierce

“I love the contagious atmosphere of Fusion - everyone coming to work their bodies to the max!”

Shauna’s passion for leading a class full of clients stems from her years as a middle school teacher - helping people change their outlooks from negative to positive is what inspires her most. Shauna’s energy spreads throughout the room and she loves seeing clients’ everyday dedication to bettering themselves. From her killer music (she loves a good Throwback Thursday full of old school R&B) to her beautiful posture & form, Shauna’s classes will challenge your body and strengthen your confidence as you keep up with her creative moves.

Liz Wallace

“I love pumping up the clients through music and words, and enjoy the feeling that I am responsible for driving the energy during class.”

After the birth of her second child, Liz fell in love with Fusion’s difficult, high energy classes on her search for the most effective workout in KC. “Fusion taught me you have to push yourself out of your comfort zones to create change,” she says, and now loves the responsibility she feels for bringing clients to their full potential. Her favorite class, Fusion Mix, brings the best of intense toning mixed with cardio moves to spike the heart rate and burn calories - through her music and coaching tough combos she hopes to push clients to be their best, happiest selves.

This high energy class creates a lean, firm, sculpted body. Our barre class is a combination of isolated muscle burnout and low-impact cardio. This effective combination is one of our original creations to shock your body!
